The Cleveland Cavaliers are likely to have a busy offseason, and we discussed that in the latest King James Gospel roundtable.
By now, you’ve probably heard that the Cleveland Cavaliers are currently without a head coach, as it was reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium that the team and former head coach Larry Drew mutually parted ways earlier this month, and now it appears that Cleveland and general manager Koby Altman are just beginning what is shaping up to be a very extensive search.

We’ve touched on the reported names a number of times this week, and based on reports from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the New York Times‘ Marc Stein, Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor, The Athletic‘s Tony Jones and Joe Vardon, it seems as if Altman and the Cleveland Cavaliers are leaving no stone unturned in this head coaching search, and that’s a good thing, considering the full-rebuild Cleveland will have in front of them in the near future.
A new name was added to the potential head coaching search, too, as it was reported by Delfi (and h/t Eurohoops’ Stefan Djordjevic) that Altman was in Lithuania recently due to his interest in club Zalgiris Kaunas’ head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius, of whom Altman has been in contact with, as Djordjevic touched on.
Along with the head coaching vacancy, the Cavaliers have three players on their roster who will be unrestricted free agents this summer, those being Marquese Chriss, Nik Stauskas and likely Deng Adel (whom they likely won’t extend a two-way qualifying offer to) and feasibly, Cleveland could also have a restricted free agent, which seems likely as we’ve hit on due to reports from Fedor and Vardon, in David Nwaba (we didn’t discuss Nwaba, though).
I asked the KJG team about the head coaching search, potential for bringing back or letting go of those free agents, and more in this roundtable.
So, let’s get started with question number one.
