The Cleveland Cavaliers drafted Collin Sexton with the eighth overall pick in this past June’s NBA Draft. Cleveland has gone through its ups and downs with the rookie but it seems like everything is starting to work out for the better.
When the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Collin Sexton with the eighth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, they knew they were getting a scrappy player who puts his all in the game. They also understood how the game would present some challenges for the rookie, including his shooting ability and improvement on the defensive end.
Through the tough times, Sexton has turned some heads.
He’s seen the best of the position every night, tasked with defending and matching the play of elite point guards. Sexton has accepted the duties and is working at being a better player as quickly as he can.
The veterans have taken notice.
In a video shared by Fox Sports Ohio and put together by sideline reporter Cayleigh Griffin, a bunch of NBA point guards are heard giving their thoughts and advice to Sexton as he tackles his first year in the league.
Guys like Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, and Kyle Lowry provide some takes on the former Alabama star.

Sexton has faced a lot of adversity in his opening season. He’s had to experience a coaching change before he even played his seventh game. His teammates reportedly questioned his talent level and understanding of the game being played at the highest level.
He also had to adjust to losing a bunch after being in the NCAA Tournament a year ago. There won’t be postseason play this season for Sexton.
The 20-year-old has heard his fair share of criticism, to say the least.
But it appears as if Cleveland has someone on their hands that is willing to grind for what he wants to become.
Sexton is averaging 15.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists for the Wine and Gold and has turned a corner offensively. Defensively, he’s reading the floor a tad better.
It’s all coming together for Sexton, who has his believers despite the outside noise.
