Cedi Osman has been on a tear for the Cleveland Cavaliers lately, and he’s showing he’s really picking up the mental aspect of the game.

This is Cedi Osman‘s first season playing a considerable minutes-share in the NBA, and he seems to have picked it up a notch for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since the calendar shifted to 2019, Osman has been playing the best basketball of his young career.

While often appearing sped up on the offensive end, and driving into opposing defenses out of control a number of times throughout games, Osman largely struggled in the first half (or so) of the season.

From October-December, Osman only averaged 11.8 points on 45.9 percent effective field goal shooting (including just a 32.1 percent hit rate from three on 4.7 attempts), to go with 5.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, per NBA.com.

Since then, though, it seems that he’s better figuring out the NBA game, and he’s “letting the game come to him” more, as Fox Sports Ohio play-by-play man Austin Carr would say.

In 15 games in the month of January, Osman averaged 14.9 points on 56.8 percent effective field goal shooting (including a 38.2 percent hit rate from three-point range on 5.1 attempts), to go with 3.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, per NBA.com.

In six games in February, Osman put up 16.8 points on 69.7 percent effective field goal shooting (including a 55.2 percent clip from three on 4.8 attempts), to go with 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game (again, per NBA.com).

That 21-game sample size is not a huge one, but it proves that the 23-year-old’s game is moving in the right direction.
