3 players Cavs could target in 2019 NBA Draft with their Rockets’ pick
By Corey Casey
Kevin Porter Jr., Shooting Guard-USC
Kevin Porter Jr. is finally back from his suspension for reported conduct issues, and it has been an up-and-down season overall for the guard out of USC. He jumps out on the screen as someone who has freakish athleticism and can jump out of the gym.
After five games to begin the season, Porter looked like he may be a lottery pick, as he was averaging 14.0 points, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks per game (per ESPN.com).

What happened to him was he missed nine games with a reportedly thigh injury, got suspended and didn’t play for a long period of time. He’s back now, but is still trying to get his game back to where it was, which is understandable, with him being out so long.
Porter would be a high-upside pick for the Cavs in the 2019 NBA Draft, because as noted, the guy is just a freak athlete with a ton of promise.
The Cleveland Cavaliers currently have the worst defensive rating in the NBA, (per NBA.com) and Porter can be a very good and versatile defender.
With the Cavs’ main priority likely trying to fix a defense that has been terrible for the last three years, this sort of selection would make sense.
Porter is also a guy who is a capable three-point shooter (40.0 percent this year, per Sports Reference) and he does a good job of attacking the basket. His finishing ability projects well at the next level near the rim, and he has his fair share of thunderous dunks.
