Cleveland Cavaliers: Prioritizing the SG/SF situation
1. Cedi Osman
Cedi Osman was primed to be the next face of Cleveland Cavaliers basketball, at least that’s what it seemed like before the season began. Fresh off of a workout with LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Kawhi Leonard, Osman was the talk of the town at Cavaliers’ Media Day.
Could Osman hone his skills and take the leap for Cleveland this season? That was the absurd question being asked about the second-year pro.
Obviously, those expectations were tempered just a month into the season. Osman would go through his troubles and show a lack of decisiveness and even displayed some stinginess on the court early on in his development this season. It was moments like those that would worry some of the fan base of just how good Osman could turn out to be.
Fast forward to February and it seems to be going well in terms of Osman’s growth. He’s making the right reads a good amount of the time, whether that’s a shot or pass. His defense is improving on-the-ball as he doesn’t seem to be much of a liability anymore. And off the court, Osman is always saying the right things.
Overall, the second year has been what one would expect for someone with such high expectations set to begin with. Osman has taken his flaws and worked with them, something that is encouraging to see.
And with someone that has such a strong work ethic, it’s worth finding out just how far Osman can take a team. That’s why he’s top priority on this list when healthy (he’s been out the past four games with a reported ankle sprain, per the Cavs).
