KJG 2019 NBA Draft roundtable: Top 10 prospects Cavs should target
By Dan Gilinsky
Corey Casey’s 2019 NBA Draft Top 10
1. Zion Williamson – Williamson has established himself as a lock for the number one pick. Once in a generation type of athlete, impossible to stop in space and someone who impacts the game offensively and defensively.
2. R.J. Barrett – Barrett is a tremendous finisher inside, has a alpha dog mentality, solid mid-range game, good passer, and does a nice job at drawing contact and getting to the free throw line.
3. Ja Morant – Morant is a freak athlete at the point guard position, and has shown high upside as a floor general while he’s averaging 10.6 assists per game, per Sports Reference. He often gets overlooked because he plays at a small school at Murray State.
4. Cam Reddish – Reddish gets overlooked because he’s on the same team as Williamson and Barrett, but Reddish is an intriguing talent. Unlike Williamson and Barrett, though, Reddish is already a solid 3-point shooter at 34.8 percent, and he’s a good defender that’s averaged nearly 2 steals per game, showing he has elite defensive potential as a team defender at the next level. The biggest concern with Reddish is his lack of aggression at times.
5. Nassir Little – It’s easy to overlook little because his numbers and he isn’t getting the playing time some other nba prospects are , but Little has big upside in the NBA. Roy Williams, the head coach at UNC, likes playing upperclassmen and likes making young guys earn their minutes. However, Little is a very good defender and has the makings of your prototypical 3-and-D player in the NBA.
6. Romeo Langford – Ideal size for someone at his position, good scorer, excellent finisher in the paint, really good shot blocker for someone his size at almost 1 block a game.
7. Keldon Johnson – Johnson is a good three-point shooter, a versatile player, and has a high motor which shows with his competitiveness, as he’s good at crashing the boards for someone at his size, is a very good defender.
8. Bol Bol – Even with his injury I still like him as a prospect . Obviously is a giant at 7-foot-2 but is a tremendous rebounder , freakish wingspan at 7’8 and has the potential to be a elite rim protector.
9. Kevin Porter Jr. – Although Porter is currently suspended at USC, when he’s been on the floor, he’s played very well. He has prototypical size for a guard at 6-foot-6 and when he’s played, he’s shown upside as a solid scorer.
10. De’Andre Hunter – He has excellent size at 6-foot-7, has shown continued improvement as a shooter with him shooting 42.1 percent from 3, and is a very versatile defender who has the potential to be an impact 3-and-D player at the next level.
