Cleveland Cavaliers’ takeaways from shellacking at hands of Utah Jazz
Sexton looked rough.
This was a tough game for everyone on the Cavs, but especially for Sexton. It’s unfair to take a lot away from this game considering how many players were out of the game for Cleveland, but there were significant portions of the game where Sexton was by far the worst player on the floor.
He struggled to take care of the ball all game and fell into the trap of taking bad shot after bad shot, which can happen for young players when going against a great defensive team like Utah. Sexton looked completely lost on offense, and the rookie wasn’t much better on the other end of the floor, either, as the Cavs’ defense was a complete nightmare.
It’s important to be patient with Sexton. He’s very raw and the learning curve for young point guards is very tough. He has the skills to be a good NBA player, but when he’s making the decisions that he did on Friday it becomes tough to see him ever reaching his full potential.
Fortunately for Sexton, the Cleveland Cavaliers are back in action Saturday night against the Denver Nuggets. Hopefully Sexton will be able to bounce back nicely from this disappointing game.
