Jaron Blossomgame and Cameron Payne both had solid games in Portland. NBA rules only allow a player to sign two 10-day contracts with the same team and Payne is currently on his second 10-day contract in Cleveland, as Cleveland announced they signed Payne again yesterday.
The rules also stipulate that a player on a two-way contract can only spend so many days with the NBA club and Blossomgame is running out of available games in Cleveland. Without additional roster moves only one of those players can stay on the team for the remainder of the season.
Blossomgame isn’t the most skilled player, but his athleticism and good fundamentals have made up for it.
He continues to prove that he can be a versatile defender while showing glimpses of being a solid offensive threat off the dribble. Blossomgame finished the night with eight points,10 rebounds, and two blocks, per ESPN.
Payne had another strong scoring night. He finished with 12 points on five-of-eight shooting with three assists in just over 20 minutes of action. The Cavs are in desperate need of guys who can create their own offense and Payne has shown that he can do that.
The Cavs will be forced to make a decision soon considering Payne’s second 10-day contract will be ending next week. This battle will be something to keep an eye on for the next couple games.
