Hypothetically, these Cavs would do well against the 2010-11 team

Shooting Guard

In probably the most lopsided matchup of the starting fives, Rodney Hood would meet up with Anthony Parker.

Hood is a guy who the Cavaliers seem to be confused about. Is he a player they can keep around to build with or has he peaked as a professional? Right now, it seems to be the former.

The former Duke star has had a good year despite some nagging injuries. He’s essentially playing as the third option on the roster and has made the most of his touches, those seeming to come more in the first half for whatever reason.

Nonetheless, 12.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, and two assists are what Hood’s averages look like on the year so far.

Where Hood seems to struggle is being aggressive for the entirety of a game along with taking better shots once he gets into a groove offensively. If he starts to find his flow, Hood starts to take some questionable shots or will force-feed a teammate to try and get them involved. The result is a turnover or missed opportunity and it’s not good for the Cavaliers.

But how would Hood line up against his opposition?

Parker isn’t anything more than a three-point shooter, to be frank. When the Cavaliers signed him, he was more of a situational weapon for when LeBron James was still in Cleveland the first time. He, along with a few others, was put around James to try and beat teams like the Orlando Magic at their own game: The inside-out offensive game.

In 81 games, all of them starts, he averaged 7.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. His best three seasons in the NBA were behind him and he was on a quick decline.

The veteran was also a defensive liability and against Hood, he would be exposed mightily. I’ll give Hood the major advantage in this one.
