#2: Try to give a big offer sheet to Kristaps Porzingis

Kristaps Porzingis is in a weird situation with the New York Knicks. He’s coming off a knee injury and there are questions about his overall durability. The Knicks might be wary of paying him a lot of money due to his injury history. So, Porzingis could potentially lose a lot of leverage in his contract negotiations with the Knicks. The Knicks could low-ball him and upset him. New York also wants to keep their cap space open because of the massive free agent pool this summer.

More from King James Gospel

I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to sign Kevin Durant first and take care of Porzingis afterwards. The Knicks are in the same state that the Lakers were in last season. They’re rebuilding but at the same time they want to start winning soon by adding a superstar.

With Porzingis becoming a restricted free agent this summer, the Cleveland Cavaliers should try to give Porzingis a high offer sheet to come to Cleveland. It doesn’t hurt to try, as I believe the Knicks would match it, but you never know.

The Houston Rockets didn’t match Chandler Parsons‘ Dallas Mavericks offer sheet in 2014. If the Cavs lose their picks for multiple seasons, they should definitely try to be aggressive and give a big offer sheet to Porzingis. If they miraculously get Porzingis (who has averaged 17.8 points and 7.1  rebounds per game for his career, per Basketball Reference), they have someone to build around.
