Accountability missing from Wine and Gold

Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Larry Drew took quite a while to come out and speak with the media following the team’s eight-straight defeat.

After yet another blowout loss, Drew informed reporters that the reason he was uncharacteristically late to the podium was an airing of grievances inside the Wine and Gold’s locker room.

Drew didn’t get into the details but did say that he allowed the team to speak rather than him, as he tried to find out what was going on during these second-half duds.

Since taking over for Tyronn Lue as the head coach of the Wine and Gold, Drew has made it his mission to get maximum effort out of his roster. That hasn’t been the case as of late.

Later in the postgame session, Larry Nance Jr. was asked what the main issue was surrounding the team’s troubles in the second half. The fifth-year pro summed it up to one word: Accountability.

It’s hard to tell if the meeting has done more good or bad for the psyche of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

No matter the general feeling, there’s the second game of a back-to-back waiting in the form of Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans come Saturday night.
