Jordan Clarkson is improving in other areas

For some unknown reason, it seems as if Jordan Clarkson can’t fully win over the fanbase’s support and media’s respect for how he’s developed this season. Clarkson has been known for his scoring-in-bunches mentality up to this point since entering the NBA. However, he’s making strides that have slipped through the cracks.

Sure, when you look at the statistics, it doesn’t seem like much progress has been made with Clarkson’s game. His assists and rebounding average have stayed nearly on-par with his career track record. But stats don’t always tell the whole story and this is one of those times where they don’t.

Clarkson started this season in his old ways, looking to find his way to the ball and then proceeding to shoot the ball no matter the situation. But about eleven games into the campaign, the former Laker started to open his vision up on the court. It’s led to career-highs in assists (8) and rebounds (11) in two separate games this season.

Watching him play in the sixth-man role has been fun because it’s literally the perfect role for him. The dude wants to shoot the ball and everyone knows it, so why not let him lead the second unit when scoring threats don’t necessarily present themselves across this Cavaliers roster? By doing such, it’s invoked some confidence in himself and has seemingly made him more eager to enhance his game.

If the Cleveland Cavaliers weren’t buried in the league standings, Clarkson might be flirting with Sixth Man Of The Year considerations. Nonetheless, Clarkson put together another nice night of work with a team-high 20 points on six-for-14 shooting.
