Tristan Thompson will keep playing as long as he has a foot.

This was a bittersweet night for Thompson as he became the 17th player in franchise history to top the 5,000 career points before leaving the game with a left foot injury.

Thompson has been the one constant in Cleveland the last eight seasons. No matter what is going on with the team, you can count on number 13 doing his part to help the team win.

Thompson’s consistent play has almost made him a lock to have his jersey retired in Cleveland. Thompson played a huge role in those four NBA Finals runs and they don’t win the championship without the mismatches he caused against the Golden State Warriors Death Lineup. Now he’s become fourth all-time in rebounds and a part of the 5,000-point club as he continues to cement his legacy in Cleveland.

Thompson has been invaluable for this team this season as he’s been by far this team’s best player. Every game that they’ve competed in this year was largely due to Tristan’s relentless work ethic on both ends of the floor.

Thompson did his best to downplay the injury after the game. He claimed after the game that the x-ray results came back negative and that it’s just sprain, (per The Athletic’s Joe Vardon).

He even went as far as to say “They didn’t chop my foot off so I’ll be fine.”

Hopefully things will be fine. Tristan’s importance to this team can’t be overstated. Things could get out of hand quickly if Thompson is forced to miss any significant time with this injury.
