Cleveland Cavaliers: Four things we learned vs the Sacramento Kings
Alec Burks is more than an expiring contract.
Alec Burks was Cleveland’s best player for most of the night as he finished the night with 22 points, eight assists, and seven boards. He is now averaging 14.4 points per game since the trade.
Burks has really helped out the team since coming over from the Utah Jazz in a recent trade involving Kyle Korver. Burks’ ability to get to the rim and get others involved in the offense has really stood out and helped the second unit.

It’s unclear what the Cleveland Cavaliers are going to do with him this year as he’s on an expiring deal. We’ve seen the front office move two players who were on team-friendly deals for future assets so far this season so it wouldn’t be surprising if they did the same to Burks.
His stint in Cleveland has shown that he can still help a playoff team on the court as well. There was a report by Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania on Friday afternoon that the Houston Rockets are looking to move Brandon Knight and assets for help on the wing. Burks is definitely a player who could help Houston on the court and the cap sheet while allowing the Cavs to stockpile more future assets.
No matter what the Cavs end up doing with Burks he’s proven that he can still be a valuable bench player in this league.
