Collin Sexton continues to sit out down the stretch.

Collin Sexton had a solid bounce back game after struggling against the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors. He finished with 15 points, two assists, and a steal. But for the second game in a row, Drew left Sexton on the bench during crunch time.

Coach Drew elected to close the game out with George Hill and Clarkson as the rookie only played three minutes in the fourth quarter. Clarkson was having a solid scoring night off the bench so keeping him in the game made some sense considering the Cavs’ offensive limitations. Playing Hill the entire fourth quarter didn’t make a whole lot of sense.

More from Cavs Analysis

Hill was invisible on the offensive end of the floor as he finished the fourth quarter with zero points, assists, rebounds, or shots and turned the ball over twice.

The Cavs’ entire philosophy for this season continues to make no sense. The organization spent the whole off-season talking about their desire to win but then turned around and fired their championship-winning coach for playing the veterans too much just over a week into the season.

They then traded away their best and only real three point shooter for an expiring contract and draft picks, but then turn around and leave the future of the franchise on the bench during crunch time just so they can win what will ultimately be two meaningless games. Things continue to not add up.

Sexton has the ability to be an All-Star, but he needs to learn how to play in this league. I’m not sure how much he can learn to play by sitting on the bench and watching George Hill and Jordan Clarkson play for a five-win team.
