Cleveland Cavaliers: Cavs’ lessons in exciting win over Brooklyn Nets
Alec Burks is leaving his mark on this team.
Last Wednesday Burks was pulled off the floor in Brooklyn and was told he was being sent to Cleveland in a trade for Kyle Korver. Less than a week later he was back on that same floor as a member of the Cavaliers and hit the game-winning shot for his new team.
Burks has given the Cavs exactly what they’ve needed in his first three games in Cleveland. He’s provided solid defense, energy on both ends of the floor, and has provided an additional ball-handler on the wing.
Burks did a little bit of everything for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the win. He finished with 13 points, seven boards, and an assist. His play has quickly gained head coach Larry Drew‘s trust as he put Burks on Russell on the defensive end in the fourth and then followed that up by drawing up the game-winning play for him.
Burks’ time in Cleveland may not be long given his expiring contract, but it’s been clear that he can help out this team while he’s here. His energy and effort has earned the trust of his teammates and coaches so far.
