Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 pluses in Cavs’ knock out of Philadelphia 76ers
Rodney Hood shows his skills.
Hood had an explosive offensive night as he led the Cavs with those aforementioned 25 points on five-of-seven shooting from distance. He carried the offense for stretches and provided the spark for what can become an otherwise lethargic offense.
Hood hasn’t had the season he probably hoped for. He’s struggled to establish himself offensively many nights and too often seems to let the game dictate his offensive production. While that may not be terrible for some players, Hood is probably the most skilled offensive player in the Cavs’ current starting lineup. They simply don’t have the firepower right now to compete when he isn’t aggressively looking to establish himself.
The frustration with Hood isn’t necessarily with his lack of numbers, but more so with the lack of aggressiveness offensively. Games like this show just how skilled offensively he can be when he is hunting his shot. Hood did a great job of attacking offensively and using the stepback shot to his advantage.
Hood is a very skilled offensive player, and hopefully he continues to hunt for his shots as he did in Philadelphia.
The Cavs are back in action Saturday night as they take on the underachieving Houston Rockets.
