LeBron may be the Cavs’ owner one day.

We’ve known for a while that James wants to be an NBA owner once he retires. Given his desire to be much more than a basketball player and how engaged he is so many communities, in addition to how he’s helped out so many players in the Association through his efforts, it wouldn’t be all that surprising for him to want to be involved as an owner of an NBA team.

He has forged so many relationships, both inside the basketball community and out of it, and being an owner is something that would probably suit him well.

On Wednesday night, Maverick Carter confirmed that James would very much be interested in becoming the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers if the team ever becomes available (with the dysfunction surrounding the team currently, that seems feasible).

James has always tried to follow in Michael Jordan‘s career. It wouldn’t be surprising if LeBron followed Jordan again by becoming the owner of his hometown team; Michael Jordan is the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets.
