Collin Sexton continues to impress

Sexton appears to be settling down in his role as a starter. He is now averaging 18.5 points per game on 48.4 percent shooting since stepping into the role.

What may be more impressive is how he’s beginning to settle into his shot from beyond the arc as he’s hit 10 of his last 15 three-pointers, per NBA.com. That’s an extremely small sample size, but it is signs of progress considering his outside shooting was one of the biggest knocks against him coming out of Alabama.

Sexton still settles for too many mid-range shots and sometimes struggles with setting up teammates, but there are significant signs of progress. His tremendous athletic ability is able to shine through more as he’s becoming more comfortable with the speed of the NBA.

Writing off Sexton after his first couple games was clearly a mistake. However, it’s still too early to declare that the Cavs hit a home run with this pick. What we do know, is that Sexton is continuing to improve every game.

Sexton’s work ethic and willingness to learn are on display as he’s been able to make improvements from game-to-game. How much more he can improve will go a long way in determining how long this rebuild will take.
