Cleveland Cavaliers: King James Gospel roundtable #2
By Dan Gilinsky
What means more, offensive rebounds or getting back on defense?
Freedman:
This is a team that lacks rebounding and could very well end the season in the bottom-10 for that category. Aside from Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson, no other player on this roster has the ability to average 8+ rebounds per game this season, so I’d say get more offensive boards given the Cavs need scoring help.
Grey:
With the way their team is constructed, they should get back on defense. The Cavs only have Tristan Thompson and Kevin Love in terms of offensive rebounding. Their roster has a lot of wings and guards so they should try to get back on defense and stop fastbreaks.
Flickinger:
The Cavs need to do a better job of getting back in transition defense considering the lack of athletic players that they have. Offensive rebounding could be a strength of this team considering they have Tristan Thompson and Kevin Love who are both good offensive rebounders. Unfortunately the team around them is not good enough defensively to be able to cover for them while they are getting back in transition. Getting back and playing defense should be the number one priority.
Friedman:
I’m not sure the two items are mutually exclusive, but if they are playing defense at this point, getting back needs to be a focus. They’re giving up 118.4 points a night, which is 25th in the league. They need to start defending if they want to stay in games, and getting back helps.
Mooneyham:
I think offensive rebounding is crucial to the Cavs’ success. They need every basket they can get right now, which starts on the glass. It’ll help build a tough nature on this team and that grittiness will carry over to the defensive side.
