Collin Sexton played like a rookie, and that’s okay.
As a nineteen year-old, Collin Sexton learned a few tough lessons during his first game in the league. He struggled on both ends of the floor especially with the speed and physicality the Raptors played with. As a result, he played the first three quarters with four points on zero-of-six shooting from the field with four turnovers.

One of the most encouraging things about Sexton is his drive and will to win. That, more than anything, was on display Wednesday night. Sexton did a great job of bouncing back in the fourth quarter, as he poured in five points on two-of-three shooting.
His play on both ends of the floor in the fourth helped bring the Cavs back within striking distance. The Cavaliers did pull the score to 108-100 with 3:08 left, and Sexton’s grit clearly had something to do with that.

Patience is important when it comes to Sexton. It’s very rare to find someone his age that can come into the NBA and make a positive impact right away. He has the work ethic, athleticism, and skill to be a great point guard in this league. But, there’s going to be a few more games like this before he reaches anything close to his full potential.
