Collin Sexton and Larry Nance Jr. will be flying in transition with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Fastbreaks were always fun with LeBron James in town, whether you’re talking about his first or second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, with James gone, the open court will belong to Collin Sexton and Larry Nance Jr.

Sexton, is a speedy, high-octane player that his teammates say only play at one speed.

Not as skilled as he is as athletic, Sexton’s bread-and-butter at this point of his career is his ability to attack the rim.

Nance Jr., the runner-up in the 2018 Slam Dunk Contest, is well-known for his athleticism and high-flying antics. In the open court, Nance’s vertical explosion will make him look like a Lob City remix, his anti-gravity attacks the stuff of legend.

In an interview with Forbes’ Evan Dammarell, Nance Jr. would excitedly speak about the duo’s potential in transition, as well as Sexton’s work ethic.

"Another thing that has Nance so excited about the Cavaliers’ chances this season is because of rookie point guard Collin Sexton. Nance loves Sexton’s work ethic and has thought about the potential of the tandem presents on the fast break by simply saying, “Two guys that can really fly and outrun almost anyone will be a lot of fun!”"

Because Kevin Love’s full-court heaves will no longer have a 6-foot-8 wide receiver on the receiving end, it’s possible that the Cleveland Cavaliers see less of those Hail Mary passes than they saw during James’ last stint.

However, the Cavs will likely be a team that pushes the ball down the court every chance they get, hoping to tire out teams with their youth and athleticism.

With players like Sexton, Nance Jr., Rodney Hood, Jordan Clarkson and Cedi Osman, young players who thrive in transition, forming the bulk of their rotation, that’s likely their best option.

Especially considering the defensive aptitude of players like Sexton, Nance Jr. and Osman, who should force plenty of turnovers that turn into fastbreak points.
