Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 reasons why Cavs should sign Tyler Ulis
Fit (Youth + Playstyle)
Tyler Ulis is just 22-years-old. Rodney Hood, Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson were all brought in last February when they were each 25. Collin Sexton, the Cavs first-round draft pick, is just 19.
The Cavs have made a notable push towards becoming a younger, more dynamic team, and the addition of Ulis would just be another step in that long process.
Ulis, as previously stated, would come off the bench, and assuming the minutes he’s awarded is with the second unit would be able to play alongside some elite sharpshooters or rim runners. A career 29% assist rate, Ulis is typically an offensive creator, a perfect position behind Sexton.
Sexton and Ulis both bring the same dynamic. A spunky, young guard that can get into the lane and find teammates, or at least that’s the ideology behind signing a player like Ulis. A good midrange shooter, Ulis, like Sexton, needs to develop a consistent deep ball in order to maximize his effectiveness.
It’s a long road to becoming a rotational player if Ulis is even signed, but I, for one, certainly wouldn’t be opposed to bringing him on board.
