Kevin Love the only Cleveland Cavalier given above an 80 in the new 2K19
Just like the mainstream media, NBA 2K19 did not love the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kevin Love was the only starter to receive over an 80 overall.
We all knew the post-LeBron Cleveland Cavaliers might not be as good as many thought, but per 2K19, they have one of the league’s worst starting lineups.
Cleveland.com also wrote on this saying:
"That puts the Cavs towards the bottom of the game. The only other teams with, arguably, weaker starting lineups are the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Orlando Magic and Brooklyn Nets."
2K19 has the Cavaliers starting Collin Sexton, JR Smith, Cedi Osman, Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson who respectively are ranked 76, 75, 75, 86 and 76. While those may not seem great, the starters were arguably one of the worst groups Cleveland could put on the court.
According to 2krating.com, Cleveland’s best lineup would consist of George Hill, Jordan Clarkson, Rodney Hood, Kevin Love and Larry Nance Jr. That lineup changes 80% of the original starting lineup yet still fails to give Kevin Love a second player above 80.
That said, while some of these players might be on the lower side, there isn’t too much arguing to be done. After all, Kevin Love was the only current Cavalier to average double figures during the Cavs 2018 Finals run.
Sexton’s yet to prove his worth. Smith, Clarkson and Hood all were among the team’s worst players last postseason while Tristan Thompson found his way in and out of the rotation frequently.
Cleveland, along with Charlotte and Detroit, hope to be competing for the last Eastern Conference playoff spot. Per 2krating.com, Detroit seems to be the best team. Both Charlotte and Cleveland have one starter over 80 as Kevin Love and Kemba Walker were each given an 86.
Meanwhile, in the Motor City, rebounding machine Andre Drummond was given an 87, surprisingly better than both Love and Walker, while Griffin was one point lower at 86 as well.
While the ratings are a bit discouraging for Cleveland Cavaliers’ fans, the Cavs were built on depth last season, and they retained most of the same veterans. With key contributors like Kyle Korver and Channing Frye coming off the bench, Cleveland should be in a good spot as far as player development goes.
That said, since 2K has recently also added a feature to update rating throughout the season, let’s just hope that players like Collin Sexton, Rodney Hood and Jordan Clarkson can edge there way into the 80s as the season progresses.
