After an intriguing offseason full of ups and downs, it’s time for the Cleveland Cavaliers to start preparing for training camp in a few weeks.

Following four straight seasons with at least 50 wins, the Cleveland Cavaliers are now just a fringe playoff team without hometown hero LeBron James. LeBron’s departure was not ideal for the team, but it does allow them to focus their assets and attention elsewhere.

Players like Collin Sexton, David Nwaba and Billy Preston will get to showcase their skills at the highest level, players that might not have had that opportunity on a James-led team. Mainly because of his desire to win and need for shooting, James had a team of veterans build around him.

While retaining those veterans isn’t a bad place to be, it’ll be interesting how Tyronn Lue mixes coaching the new, up-and-coming stars with the traditional, more developed players. There is really no telling how Lue will play his chips or really how this season could turn out.

On one hand, there are an array of Eastern Conference teams that are beatable. Milwaukee leading the charge in the middle of the East and then teams such as Miami, Washington, Detroit, Cleveland and Charlotte would follow suit. But, of those five, only three can make the playoffs?

Yet, on the other hand, Cleveland, unless you count Kevin Love, doesn’t have that next-level star, meaning they could fall to the bottom of that list and auction off these impactful veterans like Kyle Korver and Tristan Thompson.

One thing is for sure, the team wants to win. Gilbert invested $120 million into Love to lock him up for the next five seasons in hopes to keep the fans coming into the renovated Quicken Loans Arena.

That said, if the goals to win, they need to answer these burning questions and hopefully with the right answers.
