Tyronn Lue’s first LeBron-less season
The Cleveland Cavaliers sadly won’t have the best player in the world on their roster. How will that impact Tyronn Lue and what’s he learned to prep him for this moment?
It’s been a bit over two-and-a-half years since Tyronn Lue succeeded David Blatt as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he’s added quite a bit of accolade to his resume in the short time.
Since being named head coach on January 22nd, 2016, Lue, a former NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2001, has led the Cavaliers to the Finals in each of his three playoffs. In each of those seasons, Lue coached against Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors, defeating the Warriors in 2015.
He’s coached the greatest player of all time, the greatest ball-handler of all time and still has one of the best power forwards of the last 15 years locked up for the next five years.
Some coaches would kill to have a talent that even scratches the surface of any of those three future Hall of Famers.
Ty Lue had all three.
As the post-LeBron era begins for the Cavaliers, Coach Lue will look for guidance in his first season with Kevin Love leading the pack.
