What’s George Hill worth?

Watching Hill, it’s obvious what he brings to the team. He’s a pass-first, steady-minded point guard that easily gains trust with his teammates and with management. A strong veteran presence, Hood could thrive playing alongside gifted scorers.

He first made a name for himself in San Antonio then was traded after three seasons to the Indiana Pacers. Hill was traded during the offseason to Utah several years after being traded to Indiana.

Putting up his best numbers. Hill, in Utah, averaged 16.9 points per game on 47.7% from the field. Last season was Hill’s sixth straight with double-figuring scoring. That was his first year out of the shadow of Indiana’s Paul George.

At 32, Hill’s value is intriguing. He’s not quite a necessary piece to any team’s puzzle, but for a one-year rental, it would be smart for some teams to consider Hill. Technically under contract for the next two seasons, Hill is guaranteed just one million next season.

As for a reasonable return, Hill’s value should command a first-round pick; however, it seems a bit more understandable when assuming whatever team Hill’s traded to would likely give Cleveland a low first-round pick. A pick between 20-30 seems understandable for the veteran.

If that’s the criteria, who would buy into the Cavs demands?
