The Cleveland Cavaliers don’t have too many assets they’ll be willing to trade, but with a crowded backcourt, George Hill is certainly one of them.

Trading George Hill seems to be a likely move for the Cleveland Cavaliers. After all, with a backcourt of Jordan Clarkson, JR Smith, Collin Sexton, Rodney Hood and David Nwaba, why not?

Prior to the trade deadline last season, the Cavs made three separate moves that change the entire trajectory of the team. While the goal was and still to this day is to get to the NBA Finals, they traded about half their personnel, forcing the team to completely rethink their strategy.

However, they figured it out.

With Hill, Hood, Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. all joining the team midseason, they played a more upbeat style yet still reverted to James whenever they needed a bucket or whenever he was willing to carry the offensive load.

That said, while Hill did get involved in the offense and start the majority of his games in Cleveland, he just doesn’t have the potential or flare that the Cavs will be looking for this season. Similar to JR Smith, Hill thrived off playing alongside LeBron James.

Feasting off James’ passing abilities, Hill probably won’t get the same looks this season. Hill shot over 50% of his threes from the corner in Cleveland which led to shooting 46.2% from the corner for the Cavs and a career-high 41.5% from downtown for the season.

Without James, will those high percentages keep up?

Hill brings value, so the Cavs obviously won’t just throw him into a trade.

The question isn’t if he has value. It’s how much value?
