Cleveland Cavaliers draft picks since 2013: Where are they now?
Crabbe rolled out the brinks trucks in 2016
You thought Joe Harris got paid? Well, Allen Crabbe has one of the league’s most lucrative contracts. He signed a 4-year, $75 million contract with the Portland Trail Blazers yet was traded to the Brooklyn Nets just one season into his contract.
However, Crabbe, unlike Harris, didn’t start his career with the Cavaliers.
Selected by the Cavaliers with the No. 31 pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, Crabbe was immediately traded for two second-round picks. Those picks turned out to be Sir’Dominic Pointer and Paul Zipser.
Crabbe didn’t have an ideal start to his NBA career. He averaged less than four points per game in both of his first two seasons. Crabbe ascended to the player he was capable of being during his third season, averaging 10.3 points and 1.4 threes. Since then, he hasn’t taken a single step back.
This past season, he averaged a career-high 13.7 points along with 2.7 threes per game.
For Crabbe, since the size of his contract is so significant and his cap hit is as brutal as many star players, he might not be on a playoff contending team until after his player-friendly contract runs its course.
After Wiggins, Crabbe has certainly been the Cavs best draft pick since 2013.
