Cleveland Cavaliers draft picks since 2013: Where are they now?
Joe Harris just got paid
With the 33rd pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Joe Harris, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard from the University of Virginia. Harris has played four seasons in the NBA, two with the Cavaliers and two with the Brooklyn Nets.
Harris actually was one of the few free agents that saw a new and more lucrative contract this offseason. Brooklyn gave Harris a 2-year, $16 million contract after a career-year in which he averaged double figures for the first time.
However, it was Harris that developed significantly after leaving Cleveland, not Cleveland automatically giving up on him for the value of his pick pre-selection.
In 51 games his rookie season, Harris averaged just 2.7 points per game while not quite making his presence felt within the organization. During his second season, he appeared in just five games for Cleveland, spending most of his time with the Canton Charge.
ESPN lists Harris as the Brooklyn’s backup small forward. The 26-year-old shouldn’t have to wait too much longer until he’s a permanent starter, especially if he continues his slow rise to stardom.
