Sexton will be better than we think

All he’s ever done is exceed expectations–my favorite example of this is the 3-on-5 game against Minnesota in which he almost brought the Tide back after multiple players from each side were ejected for fighting.

He will continue to exceed those expectations while in the NBA, inspiring more people, just like he did his last month for a backpack donation drive in his hometown of Marietta, GA. As Ben Stinar for Amico Hoops wrote, “Sexton’s down down-to-earth humbleness also extends to his approach as a new face of the franchise for the Cavs.”

Not many other players would be willing to take so much time out of their day to ensure that kids got the opportunity to take a picture and get an autograph from one of their hometown heroes.

Since that night in November, I always rooted for him and hoped he would make it into the league. Everything I read, everything I watched and listened to, it proved to me how gifted of an athlete, and how much better of a person he was.

Almost two years later, I’m in his corner more than ever before. Sexton and I are both 19 years old, both of us also graduated in May of 2017 before going off to college (for VERY different reasons, of course), and we’re each obsessed with basketball.

He’s going to make it big in the league, and I’ll be rooting for him all the way.
