The Cleveland Cavaliers have not seen the production that they’ve craved from JR Smith in the past few seasons. That said, should he be traded?

While Kyle Korver seems to be the more desirable of Cleveland’s two elite sharpshooting threats, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be far more inclined to trade Smith. However, either of the two will not be as cheap as the other team hopes.

Albeit Smith averaged just 8.3 points per game last season, he is one of the Cavs more veteran players. If fans want to acknowledge it or not, he might be a solid asset for the Cavs this season.

Just like Kevin Love, it’s been almost four seasons since several of these players have played without a highly active, ball-dominant superstar. Could Love and Smith along with players like Tristan Thompson show a different type of skill this season?

Not to say the Cavs didn’t appreciate their time with King James, but more to say, these players are better than many give them credit for. Now, nearing 33, Smith’s days of averaging 18 points per game might be behind him, but his days of contributing at a high rate might still be around for a while.

That said, he’s still useful, but on the Cavs, he might not fit their youth movement that’s currently taking form. Meaning, Smith should see his way out in the next few months.

Here are four reasons the Cavs should trade Smith.
