The Cleveland Cavaliers have the ability and the means to trade for Jimmy Butler without giving up Kevin Love but would a straight-up Love for Butler trade work?

After seeing LeBron James take his talents out West, the Cleveland Cavaliers are destined to make him realize his mistake. Cavs owner Dan Gilbert and general manager Koby Altman are carrying out this philosophy by continuing to stay relevant.

With that in mind, the management extended Kevin Love for four more seasons.

He’s now under contract for five seasons, taking just less than the max on his four-year extension. Consequently, for the first time in four seasons, Love will captain the franchise and be the sole star of the original Big 3 left.

As for Jimmy Butler, the disgruntled star is not having as perfect a time as he had hoped to in Minnesota. After trading for Butler last offseason, the Minnesota Timberwolves front office is almost guaranteed to lose their superstar this upcoming offseason.

He’s seemingly upset over the lack of maturity of his teammates. Butler is reportedly “fed-up” according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

That said, it’s almost certain that if he’s still feeling this way towards the trade deadline they’ll trade him.

However, with a solid and developed young core, they need a player to help win right now and that player could be Love.

With that, let’s dig into a trade like from each team’s perspective.
