It didn’t work out

With a new year in Cleveland, there are more unknowns than Cleveland fans are used to.

With LeBron in Cleveland, the Cavs were always considered a contender. This season, there are so many different pieces that need to come together for them to be successful and, with LeBron gone, what is even considered being successful?

The Cavs sure aren’t winning the Finals or even getting to the Finals.

At best, we’re looking at a Cavs team that makes the playoffs and by a miracle manages to win a playoff series.

With so many young players that we have no clue how good they really are, it could be a disappointing year for Cavs fans.

On top of the unknowns of talent there is the factor of team chemistry. With a possibility of a bad year, the team might not mesh on or off the court and it may lead to players getting traded, like last season.

As a result, though Love just signed a four-year contract extension, it could be very possible that if the team plays bad enough, that Cleveland would trade love to a possible contender or a team that is a piece away from being a contender.

One possibility is that Love could be traded to Portland and in return, Cleveland could get Evan Turner and CJ McCollum (or a first-round draft pick).

That would leave Cleveland younger and, in turn, help Cleveland out at small forward even though Turner is notoriously known for having one of the worst contracts in the NBA.

When a team starts to tank and players aren’t happy, anything is possible. When hope is gone, the front office may decide to make a major change to bring new energy to the team.
