Is there a new Big 3 in town for the Cleveland Cavaliers?
By Samuel Baum
No. 3: Collin Sexton
No matter what level Collin Sexton has played at he has shown he can be a star player. In the Las Vegas Summer League, he proved how could he play at a near NBA-level and, in doing so, he made the All-Summer League first team, a team full of elite rookies and second-year studs.
But the real question is: Can that stardom translate to the next level?
His Summer League averages were 19.6 points on 42.9 percent shooting from the field with 3.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. His non-scoring totals are low, but keep in mind the quarters are shorter and the level of talent around him isn’t elite.
While there has been a lot of speculation on how Sexton will do in the league, if he continues to be the gritty, do-it-all players he can be, he should be just fine.
With top-level athleticism and elite quickness, Sexton should be just fine making the transition.
While there may be growing pains, the former University of Alabama standout should be able to morph his game to the enhanced speed and skill.
