Cleveland Cavaliers: Russell Westbrook is a realistic ceiling for Collin Sexton
Volume Production
While many think he pads his stats, Russell Westbrook has proven that he’s more than just a stat-padder. He’s an all-around monster. Westbrook, during his MVP season, averaged a triple-double for just the second time in NBA history.
While that may be a goal Sexton aspires to have, with the right amount of work, that aspiration could be a reality.

Starting out, Westbrook didn’t put up those mind-blowing numbers.
He’s also done it without a threatening three-point jumper. Under 20% of his shots come from three-point land, and at the start of his career, that number dipped below 10% at times.
That to say, just because Sexton doesn’t have a reliable jumper, it doesn’t mean he won’t be productive. During his first season, Westbrook averaged 15.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.
During the Cleveland Cavaliers seven summer league, Sexton averaged 19.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. With extended minutes and better teammates, Sexton’s numbers across the board should spike come the regular season.
However, against NBA-level competition, it’s unlikely his near 20 points per game stays consistent.
Nonetheless, this summer league, Sexton proved that, while he might take bad shots from time to time, he has the ability to put up volume numbers and lead the Cavs to victory.
In that aspect, if he continues to improve, he could lead a team similar to the way Westbrook does.
