Trade Kyle Korver

The Cleveland Cavaliers need to trade Kyle Korver and Tristan Thompson. Notice I didn’t say trade JR Smith. Albeit all three hinder the Cavaliers youth movement, only Korver and Thompson lack the necessary tools to continue to be used efficiently in Cleveland.

Korver thrives off playing with developed playmakers or a collection of team-first players willing to make each other better.

Honestly, the Cavs have neither of those.

Kevin Love, Collin Sexton, and Rodney Hood have the tools to score the ball, but none of the three have a competent ability to make plays for their teammate and get others involved. Additionally, playing alongside Clarkson, Hood, and Smith will exclude the “team-first” mentality as they often times look for their own shots at teammates peril.

Without those two things present, Korver wouldn’t be the same elite sniper that he was last season, averaging 3.8 threes per 36 minutes.

Korver’s reportedly been on the trading block. Two second-round picks seem like an ample return for the sharpshooter. Teams like Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles, Oklahoma City, and other contenders should be interested in Korver and his team-friendly contract.
