Game recap: Cleveland Cavaliers advance to quarterfinals

The Cleveland Cavaliers advance to the quarterfinal round of the Summer League tournament after defeating the Houston Rockets, 92-87.

The Cleveland Cavaliers had to battle in this one against the Houston Rockets.

The game was tied at halftime but in the end, led by point guards Scoochie Smith and Collin Sexton, the Cavs pulled away to advance to the quarterfinals.

Sexton had 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Smith had 17 points, three assists, one rebound and steal.

Jamel Artis also had a nice game, even hitting a clutch three to put the Rockets away for good. Artis had 13 points, nine rebounds and one assist.

Smith also had a couple of nice moments in the game, like this one, just crossing people up.

Here is a nice play from Sexton, finishing in traffic.

Billy Preston also had a nice game, as he had 12 points, six rebounds and one assist.

Dakota Mathias also had a good game, as he had 10 points, two rebounds and two assists. Lastly, Marcus Lee had a nice game and had eight points and six rebounds.

John Holland had four points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. Brayon Blake had four points, four rebounds, one assist and steal.

Overall, the Cavs shot 41.8 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three.

It wasn’t the most impressive shooting night but it was one in which the young Cavaliers had to grit their teeth, make winning plays and grind for the win.
