The Cleveland Cavaliers should sign Montrezl Harrell to an offer sheet
By Dan Gilinsky
The Cleveland Cavaliers must ultimately look to the future, but not just throw away the present, either, and Montrezl Harrell is a nice fit for both.
Things have looked somewhat promising so far for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Las Vegas Summer League.
They’ve opened up their first bit of the LVSL with a 2-1 record, and players such as rookie first-round pick Collin Sexton, rolling big Marcus Lee and favorite Cedi Osman have been doing work.
The Cavs might still want to add a few pieces to their roster via free agency, though, and doing so on one-year “prove-it” deals is a low-risk play for the franchise in their transition post-LeBron James.
Harrell might be a nice first free agent add in that realm, given he fits the Cavs’ rebuilding or contending while still having Kevin Love timeline.
Cleveland does still have Love (at least for now), and should have a solid tandem of bigs starting games with him and Larry Nance Jr. (who should be getting more run next season than the limited Tristan Thompson).
From there, it’s uncertain as to who is going to create offense for themselves when it comes to the bigs on the roster.
