5 free agents the Cavs should sign to fill out the roster
Channing Frye
Like Jefferson, Channing Frye was a fan favorite in his time in Cleveland and, like Jefferson, Frye would be a strong addition to the Cavaliers’ locker room.
A humor-filled individual who will get fiery from time to time, Frye is a player who would also have a real role on the team if he returned. Behind his friend Kevin Love, the only player playing power forward is Okaro White.
White is a solid defender and has the potential to be in the Cavs’ rotation but Frye has a much more refined offensive game and one that resembles Love’s inside-outside prowess to boot. Frye, despite often being a lead-footed defender, is a stretch big who also can mix it up inside.
Though lacking agility on defense, he typically positions himself well in pick-and-roll defense and has also shown decent timing as a rim-protector in recent seasons.
The Cleveland Cavaliers’ defense will likely being negatively effected with Frye on the court nonetheless but the bevy of athletes that litter the roster bears little semblance to that of year’s past and, as a result, there’s less chance for Frye to be exposed defensively.
