Cleveland Cavaliers: Proposing three trades involving sharpshooter Kyle Korver
The Cleveland Cavaliers aren’t going to be competing in the Finals this year. That said, why hang onto Kyle Korver, Cleveland’s 37-year-old sharpshooter?
Unless Dan Gilbert and company decide against a full-scale rebuild, the Cleveland Cavaliers will once again be a perennial lottery team.
Additionally, if they land in the bottom ten of the next two seasons, they keep their first-round pick instead of handing it over to Atlanta. They dealt that pick to Atlanta in the same trade that brought the former Hawks sharpshooter, Kyle Korver, to Cleveland.
However, with that full-scale rebuild on the horizon, it’s time to consider trading Kyle Korver.
Just like LeBron James, going into every season fans and analysts think Korver’s production will drop off, and while it’s taken slight hits, he’s still one of the league’s top three-point threat. Last season, Korver made 2.2 threes per game on just 21.6 minutes per game. Per 36, Korver hit a career-high 3.8 threes.
With the right amount of unselfish playmaking, Korver can thrive. James’ ability to read plays and make timely passes combined with Korver sharpshooting created a lethal offense for the Cavaliers.
Without James, the Cavaliers won’t have the playmaking needed to get Korver open shots. While Sexton and Hood can create shots, it’s another level of difficulty to create shots for your teammates and not just for yourself.
At 37, Korver, who has never won an NBA Championship, needs to be on a contending team. That said, here are three perfect trade options for Korver.
