The Cleveland Cavaliers, now with Golden State signing DeMarcus Cousins, won’t have many teams compromising the future for the present. Could Philly?
LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers hometown prodigy, left them for the second time in the last ten years. However, this time it was to be expected. Add on the fact that James had already accomplished his goal for Cleveland and it seems far less of a betrayal than just a farewell.
That was two days ago.
Now, the Golden State Warriors signed DeMarcus Cousins, the former Pelicans big man that went down with an injury mid-season last year. His ruptured Achilles left him searching for a max contract that he’d most likely never find.
While many hate and despise the move by the former Kentucky Wildcat, he’s 27-years-old. He’s going to be going into another contract year where he can find that max deal. On top of all that, he will be able to fully recover while not being pressured to return.
Even more so, Cousins is teaming up with his friend and fellow snake Kevin Durant. That said, Golden State might be light years ahead of the field, but the C’s and Warriors need to be playing for the season after.
By trading for Kevin Love, the Philadelphia 76ers would be doing that since he’s under contract till following the 2019-2020 season. And, if the 76ers can prove their competence, there’s no reason to think he would opt out following the 2018-2019 season.
He wants to be on a contender, and Philly is the perfect one.
