No. 1: LeBron James– James has opted out of his contract

LeBron James, who is currently in Los Angeles, opted out of $35.6 million in order to either re-sign with Cleveland or take his talents to LA. After opting out, those two are where many reporters think his interests are boiled down to.

After dropping 51 points in Game 1 of the Finals, it’s clear that James is still the NBA’s best player even after his 15th season in the league. One of the greatest of all time is up for a new contract after arguably his best season as a pro.

Last season, James averaged 27.5 points and a career-high 9.1 assists and 8.6 rebounds per game. The Akron-native has spent the last four seasons in Cleveland, and his entire career in the Eastern Conference.

However, with a home in LA and elite basketball school to send his 13-year-old to, James seems to understandably have a strong interest in LA. Then again, he’s done such work in Cleveland and has stressed the importance of his family in this decision. Understanding his wife also grew up in Northeast Ohio makes you think he could still lean toward returning to the Land.

James conquered the league in Cleveland. He made history in Cleveland, and while he is certainly their top free agent target, no one would burn his jersey this time around if he leaves.
