2018 NBA Free Agency: Ranking the Cleveland Cavaliers top 25 options
No. 2: Paul George– George has opted out of his contract
Although George has strong interest in returning to OKC, it seems more and more likely that he’ll be teammates with James next season. The ideal situation would be a sign-and-trade to Cleveland, but since the realistic scenario is them both signing with Cleveland, don’t hang your hopes on the James-George duo in Cleveland.
George is the superstar teammate that James needs. He averaged 21.9 points per game alongside Russell Westbrook who by himself averaged 21.1 shots per game.
Being alongside Westbrook seemed to do to George what playing alongside Irving and James did to Love: turn him into more of a spot-up shooter. George averaged a career-high 7.7 threes per game. Albeit he made 3.1, George is much more effective on the ball as opposed to off the ball.
However, although George was at times not as engaged offensively as he should’ve been, it’s exciting for fans to see him average 2.0 steals per game, a career high. That’s the type of mentality you need on your team.
That said, if George is available in any way, the Cleveland Cavaliers must find a way to allure him to the Land.
