2018 NBA Free Agency: Ranking the Cleveland Cavaliers top 25 options
No. 6: Tyreke Evans
After seeing his scoring decrease significantly the two seasons prior to last, Tyreke Evans sign a low-risk, low-reward deal with the Grizzlies for just $3.3 million. In Memphis, Evans excelled, scoring 19.4 points per game, almost double his per game average from the season prior.
With over five rebounds per game and over five assists per game, Evans was on another level all season long with star teammates Marc Gasol and Mike Conley missing significant time due to injury. In addition to his diverse stat line, Evans averaged 2.2 threes per game on 40% from downtown.
Unlike most players, Evans started off his career hot, scoring 20+ points per game his rookie season, placing him in elite company. However, Evans has not been able to his that threshold a second time in his nine-year career.
Albeit at 28, things are starting to trend upward for Evans.
The only problem for Cleveland is that Evans will be hoping to sign a contract worth tens of millions of dollars. He should be viewed as a star playmaker, but Evans isn’t.
He’d be a perfect addition for Cleveland if James left, but with James, it’s unlikely the Cavs target a player like Evans.
