2018 NBA Free Agency: Ranking the Cleveland Cavaliers top 25 options
No. 8: JJ Reddick
Another 3-and-D specialist makes an appearance on our list. JJ Reddick, who was paid handsomely last season in Philadelphia, will not get the same type of contract on this market especially being 34 years old.
Reddick did find unprecedented success in Philadelphia last season. He averaged a career-high 17.1 points per game. The 42% three-point shooter made 2.8 per game, absolutely thriving in Philadelphia’s offense alongside Ben Simmons.
Now, take away Ben Simmons and insert LeBron James, assuming he stays put in Cleveland. Then, add Kyle Korver into the mix, and while the defense might take a hit, it’d be virtually impossible to offer help on any defender guarding LeBron.
Korver, just like many other shooters like James Jones, has found success alongside James. Now, think about adding a player a bit quicker and more elusive than Korver while still retaining Korver.
If Reddick would be comfortable with the MLE, Cleveland would snag him in a heartbeat. However, Reddick should be able to find more financial opportunity elsewhere.
