2018 NBA Free Agency: Ranking the Cleveland Cavaliers top 25 options
No. 12: Luc Mbah a Moute
Luc is a gritty defender yet found his way out of the rotation at the most crucial point of the season, the postseason. Mbah a Moute has to feel some type of abandonment while sitting on the bench only to make an appearance when the Rockets were without Chris Paul.
Last season, Mbah a Moute averaged a mundane 7.5 points per game on 48% shooting. At 31, Mbah a Moute was only paid $2.1 million last season which is a target the Cavs could easily compete with.
The Cavs ranked No. 29 in defensive efficiency last season, and while it was a different story in the postseason, they still continued to play a game solely based on scoring more than their opponent not limiting their opponent. They need a defensive stopper.
Mbah a Moute is that stopper, and while he might not possess the offensive upside that a player like Bradley has, he’s cheap and will give you much-needed defense.
This is a low-risk move that Koby Altman and the Cavs could make.
