Sign-and-trade Option No. 1

Cavs receive Lonzo Ball, 2018 second-round pick (via DEN), and two future second-round picks

Lakers receive LeBron James

Sending Lonzo Ball back to Cleveland for LeBron James makes the most sense.

Since the hopeful superteam would have two superstars and one borderline superstar, there’s really no room for a pass-first, point guard like Lonzo that struggled mightily from deep during his rookie year. He thrives off good offense and ball movement.

With Kawhi, LeBron, and Paul George, I wouldn’t bank on them running a great offense focused on ball movement. Instead, bank on isolation and playing to the forced mismatches on the court.

On top of that, credible ESPN reporter Chris Haynes said that the sign-and-trade rumors floating around have all included the 2017 No. 2 overall pick.

Ball’s useless in LA with this superteam mainly because of his three-point struggles. He shot just 30.5% from deep, and on top of those struggles, he struggled to even stay on the court, missing 20 games due to injury.

While Ball will most likely still be a phenomenal pro, he’d be far underused on this team. And, LeBron might, instead of dealing with the Ball family, drive them also.

The picks are honestly just a consolation prize since the Lakers should be a dynamic force, rendering those picks borderline worthless.
