Scenario: LeBron leaves; Keep the same core

Goal: Rebuild through the draft, don’t trade any of our main assets.

Why it makes sense:

In the event that LeBron James leaves, the team could still return with their same core players.

Therefore, Kevin Love would become the focal point of the offense. Love is capable of carrying an offense. When Love was the main option in Minnesota, he averaged 19.2 points, 12.2 rebounds and shot 45% from the field. Love wouldn’t carry us to the Finals, but he would ensure we remained competitive.

Meanwhile, other players would see big changes to their roles as well. Rodney Hood could once again be a key player to a young team. Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance would likely see an increase in minutes and become more important.

This means that Kyle Korver and JR Smith would see a decrease in playing time, as the Cavaliers would be focusing on the development of their younger players.

Furthermore, the Cavaliers would be bringing in whoever they draft at the number eight spot this season. This rookie would have a great chance to learn under the wing of veteran players while also being a key piece to the team.

Bringing a rookie into a winning culture is much better than having him start his career with a team that is completely lost.
