The Cleveland Cavaliers need to make moves to keep LeBron James, and adding both DeMarcus Cousins and Paul George would certainly do the trick.
In the past few days, the media has bombarded readers with odds LeBron James stays in Cleveland. Well, the odds that he stays fully depends on the Cleveland Cavaliers, and if their front office does what it takes for him to stay.
While news broke that Kevin Love said he wanted to finish his career in Cleveland alongside LeBron James, that reality is almost guaranteed to not come true. In wake of Cleveland needing to make a move, Love might be the odd man out.
Outside of James and the No. 8 overall pick, Love’s the only player with true value. To add to that, if it means bringing in two superstar talents in Paul George and DeMarcus Cousins, both the pick and Love wouldn’t stand in the way.
But, a trade like that wouldn’t come without risks.
DeMarcus Cousins is coming off a gruesome Achilles tear while Paul George, by his standards, had his career’s first down year in Oklahoma City. While Cousins is much more of a risk, Cleveland’s front office must do all they can to make something out of nothing.
That said, let’s get into what a three-way deal, which is necessary due to their contracts and the Cavaliers current contracts, would look like and how the Cavs could re-build a team after that deal.
